My 2 cents - just play with whatever character takes your fancy

You can always delete it and start again with another one once you have a feel for the game.

I only play PvE and have at least one character of every class and love them all for their own reasons, including mesmer and assasin. Yes I did say I love assasins. I have an assasin/ranger who does loads of degen with apply poison covered by bleeding and deep wound attacks. Plus of course there's the traps. Have only taken her out with henchies so far (intentionally) whilst she levels up and haven't had any problems with the so-called paper-thin armour

I have a mesmer who does loads of interrupts and I love casting spells that make the enemy hurt themselves (backfire, empathy etc.). Gotta love enemies that kills themselves -my neccie uses SS which is another very powerful build (and she looks very cool in her 15k canthan armour). And BTW - my mesmer has never had trouble getting into groups.

I even love playing a monk and like to think I'm good at keeping everyone healed - it's all about teamwork. In fact I loved my monk so much I started another one to try out a protection build....

My ele was my first character and still one of my most powerful. Hurting multiple enemies with fire damage is very effective, plus she has pretty armour

In fact she was my only character for a long time as she was so great to play!

I love creating spirits with my ritualist, I love hammering enemies to death with my w/mo. And I love my ranger who is again pretty powerful, well hard and has a cute tiger for a pet. Plus she was my first character to get survivor(1).

Just delve in with a character - any character - and you'll soon get the hang of things in this wonderful game
